Vi inleder den här artikeln med att säga att det finns mycket av Mario-spel, och för att förstå den omtalade serien har vi Mario-spelen i släppordning.
Vi har två separata listor, en för huvudlinjen och en annan som omfattar varje spel där Mario och hans kompisar har dykt upp.
Även i den här artikeln kommer vi att förklara situationen med Mario-universums berättelse och tidslinje, och hur viktigt det är att veta innan du trippelhoppar med huvudet först in i dem.
Vissa av spelen är lite svårare att spela än andra, men vi har inkluderat ett sätt att köpa varje huvudversion.
Vissa kan bara spelas på originalhårdvara också, men en god del av dem kan fås för Nintendo Switch – och förhoppningsvis Switch 2 när den släpps, om den stöder bakåtkompatibilitet.

Vilka Mario-spel ska du spela på Switch?
Om du hoppar in i serien nu, rekommenderar vi att du spelar de vanliga Mario-spelen som är tillgängliga på Nintendo Switch, eftersom dessa är de enklaste att köpa och spela just nu.
Det finns inte mycket av en pågående story att oroa sig för, så vi rekommenderar att du helt enkelt hoppar in i dessa nyckeltitlar när du vill. Ordningen spelar egentligen ingen roll, men det här är sekvensen där de kom ut på Switch:
Av dessa skulle vi särskilt rekommendera Wonder (ett briljant 2D-plattformsspel) och Odyssey (ett fantastiskt 3D-plattformsspel) om du letar efter en Mario-upplevelse med klassisk känsla med alla moderna klockor och visselpipor i Switch.
Om du funderar på att spela några äldre Mario-spel på Switch, 3D All-Stars-paket kommer att ge dig sådana klassiker som Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine och Super Mario Galaxy.
Om du vill gå ännu längre tillbaka genom historien, kolla in Nintendo Switch Online medlemskap som inkluderar golden oldies som går hela vägen tillbaka till det ursprungliga Super Mario Bros från NES-eran.
Och när det gäller spin-offs som är värda din tid, rekommenderar vi varmt Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (nu förbättrad med många DLC-spår) och den senaste nyinspelningen av Super Mario RPG .

Finns det en tidslinje för Mario-berättelsen?
Tack och lov, för en serie med så många spel, det finns ingen sammanhållen handling som länkar ihop spelen på något meningsfullt sätt.
Det betyder att du kan hoppa in i vilket Mario-spel som helst utan att behöva oroa dig för att komma ikapp med någon övergripande berättelsebåge.
Du kommer att få en del av karaktärer från ett spel i ett annat för att fungera som fantjänst, men det är ganska mycket omfattningen av det.
Det rekommenderas dock att om det finns som en del av en serie som Super Mario Galaxy 1 och 2, att spela dem i ordning eftersom de kommer att introducera spelmekanik som inte hittades i det tidigare spelet.
Nedan har vi alla mainline Mario-spel som någonsin släppts, inklusive spel som innehöll Mario, som Donkey Kong och Wrecking Crew.
För Mario-kännare är det bara plattformsspel som betraktas som mainline-utgåvor, med spel som Super Mario RPG eller Mario Kart som spin-offs, varför de inte ingår här.
